GSRP
COVID-19 INFO

The Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) is Michigan's state-funded preschool Program for four-year-old children with factors which may place them at risk of educational failure. The program is administered by the Michigan Department of Education, Office of Great Start. Funding is allocated to our center, as well as others, to administer the program locally.

Research on preschool programs and specific research on GSRP indicates that children provided with a high-quality preschool experience show significant positive developmental differences when compared to children from the same backgrounds who did not attend a high-quality preschool program.

For the 2023-2024 school year, we have been awarded a Great Start Readiness 4 year old preschool program. This will be our 9th year in a row with a GSRP program! The GSRP program has their own classroom consisting of either 8 or 16 children who are taught using the HighScope Curriculum. This curriculum uses an active learning environment and play based learning to focus on various areas of development in preparation for Kindergarten.

There are full and partial scholarships available to eligible families. If you are interested, in this program, please contact us and be prepared to divulge your household income to check for eligibility. You can also visit michiganpreschool.org to access the application for the GSRP program. Just visit their home page and scroll down to begin filling out the Preschool Interest Form. If you wish to apply to our center specifically for GSRP, Wee Care is listed under the Program Preferences" in Saginaw Township.
